BASIS Independent Manhattan’s expansion to include an Upper School Campus will open in fall 2021 in Chelsea (556 W. 22nd St.) and will serve grades 6 – 12. As Head of the Lower School, Ms. Shari D. Cameron proudly leads BASIS Independent Brooklyn’s expansion to a brand new Pre-K through grade 2 campus in Downtown Brooklyn. BASIS Independent Brooklyn is coming to Downton Brooklyn! In fall 2021, a new 62,000 square-foot Lower School Campus will open at City Point (138 Willoughby Street). The new campus offers the opportunity to customize a modern, large space to the needs of Early Learning and early Primary students in Pre-K through Grade 2. After Grade 3, students would then step up to the original 100,000+ square-foot Red Hook campus.

New Chelsea Upper School Campus and Downtown Brooklyn Lower School Campus Slated to Open Fall 2021
BASIS Independent Schools, the world-acclaimed network of private schools, announced the expansion of BASIS Independent Manhattan to include a new Upper School campus in Chelsea that will house their growing High School Program. Meanwhile, BASIS Independent Brooklyn will expand to a separate Lower School Campus at the City Point complex in Downtown Brooklyn due to increased enrollment. With all of our Bobcats distance learning from the comfort of their homes, we have been looking for ways to reproduce that feeling of community that is inescapable when on our campus. With this in mind, My. Meyerowitz, one of our Master Teachers who teaches English and History, was looking for a way to keep his learners connected when he requested the following assignment. He asked students to photograph their distance learning workspace, and then share them with the rest of the class to help foster a sense of classroom community. On Friday, August 14th BASIS Independent Silicon Valley welcomed students in person via a socially distanced Back to School Parade. It was HOT, with it topping over 100 degrees in the afternoon. While a heatwave definitely made things interesting for everyone, it was all worth it to see the students. Enjoy some photos of the BASIS Independent Silicon Valley teachers and staff.
